So what's a little B&E between friends? Oh wait, we're not friends...

Lindsey studied his crude map of the city. He'd spend some time wandering around, looking at different neighborhoods. He'd missed a lot, he knew, but it was a start. First, he'd hit the magic store he'd spotted soon after first arriving, and then the herb shop he'd spotted last week. There were some interesting storage units - he was pretty sure they were storage units - further from downtown, which might have contents worth sifting through. After that, he'd marked some houses that looked like they had potential.

This was going to take a while. He put the crowbar and bolt cutters in the first duffel bag, and the rope in the second; they went on the front passenger seat. The bottled water went on the floor below them, and the cooler with food (none of which could spoil, though it might go stale) on top of the water. The back had more bags, and a few wooden boxes. It was best to be prepared, after all.

He started the car and headed out 'shopping'.

Diary entry: 1

This place is really fucked up. No government, no money, hardly any people - at least that I've seen so far. On the other hand, I've lived through places a hell of a lot worse, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

I'm going 'shopping' tomorrow - which seems to consists of wandering around empty shops taking what you need. I'm already nervous as a cat; nothing's ever free, and I have to wonder what the eventual price will be.

I wonder if there's a place where I can pick up some more interesting, and useful, gear. A sword would be nice. Herbs, powders, candles, and other tools of the trade would be even better. The only thing I've got now is a pocket knife and my bag, and while I can work with those I'd prefer not to have to limit myself to that.

I also need to find myself a place to camp out for the moment. Maybe one of the rooms in this hotel will prove sufficiently defensible. Some magic, wards, and maybe a little root work, and I should be able to make a place safe enough to sleep and study.

I need to find out what's really going on here.

Note to self: Check out the libraries next.
